EP Review: Descension by Through The Canopy
Are you ready for something new? Something hard and heavy yet soft and fragile? Let us introduce you to Norwegian post-metal / prog-doom act Through The Canopy and their new EP Descension released on 15th January.
Imagine a blend of Neurosis and Russian Circles with an expanded, experimental edge. It’s big ambitious and thoroughly captivating. The two tracks ‘Seven Days’ and ‘Illusions Lost’ clock in at 22 minutes – giving you some idea on the ambition on show here.
It’s all slow doomy post-metal with the experimental prog adding an exciting layer that sets the band out from the crowd. It’ll pummel you and rock you to sleep in equal measure but all of it is captivating and essential. Get this listened to.
