EP Review: Can’t Forget by Feed Them To The Forest

York based alt punks Feed Them To The Forest released their debut EP Can’t Forget on 7th April. Produced and mastered by a dream team combo of Dave Boothroyd at Reel Recording Studio (Deaf Havana / Blink 182) and Alan Douches at West West Side Music (The Wonder Years, Alkaline Trio, Every Time I Die), this is an EP that hints at great things.

Opener and lead single ‘Lie With The Dogs’ is full of big hooks that would be the envy of Coheed and Cambria while channelling a punk energy and forthright tempo. ‘Golden Age Thinking’ is somehow even more infectious, this time the riffs are ramped up a notch and you can’t help but start to fall in love with the band.

‘Apology is Policy’ showcases a poppier side to the band. There’s still riffs in abundance, yet the band manage to hone in on an immediate pop rock tone that is full of integrity and insatiable listenability. ‘Speculative Grief’ takes the tone from the first two tracks and adds a little more punk spike with the gravelly vocals before ‘We Used to Make Mixtapes’ channels mainstream alt rock of the late 00s, unsurprisingly it works brilliantly.
