Playlist: Provoker and their unicorn Glen
Having recently released their debut EP the long defeat, we caught up with Joe Spratt from Provoker who gave us 10 songs to listen to while riding your unicorn to Stains. Over to you Joe!
Everyone wishes they had a unicorn, well I have Glen. A trusty steed who has accompanied me on many a journey and when we travel we like to jam some bangers. The following is a list of songs Glen and I would likely enjoy on a trip to Stains together.
Daughter – Tomorrow
Glen is a soft soul, that’s why he loves this song. It’s a beautiful song and I love it too. Arguably the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
Underoath – Returning Empty Handed
Any list without an Underoath song is a list that I want nothing to do with. This song has everything and does everything without ever retracing its own steps. Perfect.
Paramore – Careful
Paramore are no strangers to the idea of mythical creatures and Glen is no stranger to a Paramore track. We often jam ‘Brand New Eyes’ and this track stands out to me from that album.
The Chariot – The City
There’s nothing like a song you can sing along to, especially when you’re travelling. The culmination of this song, which follows a barrage of strong and powerful lyrics, will have you singing at the top of your lungs in no time.
Norma Jean – A Media Friendly Turn For The Worst
Another song you can sing along to. Enjoyable to listen to and enjoyable to sing to whilst remaining insanely heavy.
Alexisonfire – Born and Raised
Possibly one of the best vocal melodies ever written? It also has some good melodies to enjoy with a partner.
Circa Survive – In Fear and Faith
Glen and I stayed up late one night a few summers back watching ‘Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind’, since then this song has always been on our playlist as a constant reminder.
Drake – Pound Cake/Paris Morton
This one gave me goose bumps and turned me onto Drake a few years ago when Glen first introduced me to it. Not a trip goes by now that we don’t throw it on.
Hrvrd – Ghost
Sleazy and catchy, this song isn’t going to be missed from our travel playlist. Glen wouldn’t allow it.
As Cities Burn – Thus From My Lips Your Sin is Purged
Boasting 2 vocal parts we can team up and tackle this one together. This song trumps “99 bottles of beer on the wall” every time. Glen loves to have a good scream to this song while I take the melodic vocal parts.
Thanks for listening; I can’t believe you made it this far. Our EP is out March 6th, please check it out.
