EP Review: Viewpoint by Roam
Guest Reviewer: Matt Dickinson
It’s been a pretty big year or so in their short career for Eastbourne based Roam, putting out a pretty big EP on Pinky Swear Records (lead single Head Rush has over 100k views), supporting Neck Deep on their headline tour and then signing for Hopeless records (the same label as The Wonder Years, Taking Back Sunday and New Found Glory) and now having put out the Viewpoints EP.
Like UK band mates Neck Deep they have carved their own take on pop punk, their songs are well written and the production is spot on. Warning Sign is the lead single from the EP and it’s not hard to see why, it’s every bit as infectious and punchy as anything a band with a lot more experience under their belt. Over your head opens the ep, and is as classic pop punk as you can get, lyrically “under pressure I try to be, the person that people see…” and musically. This EP is another step in the right direction for Roam, I’ve expected big things since I saw them last January, and I can fully expect them to be working their way onto the main stage at Leeds festival sooner rather than later.
